The Accra International Conference Centre was the epicentre of elegance and excitement on Sunday, October 6, 2024, as it played host to the prestigious Ghana Women Awards 2024.
Organized by Brein Consult, the event marked 15 years of celebrating the achievements of distinguished Ghanaian women across various sectors, to inspire others to aspire to greatness.
Over the years, the Ghana Women Awards has not only been a platform for recognizing excellence but also a vital tool in the advocacy for gender equality.
Through this platform, Brein Consult continues to encourage women to take bold steps into traditionally male-dominated fields, promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for all.
This year’s celebration was particularly special, as it marked the 15th anniversary of the Ghana Women Awards Foundation (GWAF).
To commemorate this milestone, GWAF launched the 'Mother and Child Care Fund.'
This initiative is set to offer both financial and social support to mothers and their newborns who are detained in hospitals due to unpaid medical bills, addressing a critical issue faced by many vulnerable families.
The awards ceremony was a true celebration of womanhood, graced by some of the country’s most prominent figures and featuring enthralling performances by Highlife legend Dada KD, gospel sensation Empress Gifty, and the Arc Band. Renowned young poet Nakeeyat Dramani Sam also captivated the audience with her powerful spoken word performances.
The highlight of the night came with the presentation of the coveted Legendary Woman Award, which went to Madam Belinda Doris Arkorful, CEO of Linda Dor. Other honorary awards were presented to iconic actress Grace Omaboe, also known as Maame Dokono, gospel duo Tagoe Sisters, Afi Amoro, CEO of Jandel, and Hajia Hawa Meizongo, CEO of Silverline Productions, for their exceptional contributions to society.
In the private sector, several women were honoured for their outstanding accomplishments, including Belinda Naa Odey Amarteifio as Outstanding Female HR Executive and Rev. Dr. Colleen Opoku-Amuaben for her work as an Outstanding Female Pastor and philanthropist. Linda Asong of Lyran Collections was recognized as the Outstanding Female Fashion Designer, while Therestella Obosu Tei-Kwabla was named the Most Promising Lady.
