Ghana and the Secretariat of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group of countries have signed a host country agreement to pave the way for Ghana to host the Sixth ACP Summit of Heads of State and Government from September 30 to October 3, 2008.
The ACP Secretary-General, Sir John Kaputin and Nana Bema Kumi, Ghana's Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union signed the agreement in Brussels on Tuesday.
A statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra on Thursday said the theme for the summit was: "Promoting Human Security and Development."
It said the ACP leaders would use the occasion to discuss peace and security in ACP countries as well as global issues such as migration, soaring food prices, climate change and other economic challenges.
The statement said leaders from over 78 countries were expected to attend.
