Ashanti Gold SC have extended their lead on top of the First Capital Plus Premier League table after beating Asante Kotoko at the Len Clay Stadium at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
AshGold are now five clear points ahead of second placed Aduana Stars after their 2-1 win over the defending Champions.
The Porcupines warriors got the opener in the first half courtesy Latif Amadu’s 14th minute goal but the home side equalized in the 33rd minute with Yakubu Mohammed penalty kick.
Benard Morrison, who has enjoyed an impressive form this season added the second for the Ash Gold in the 69th minute to give his side the three maximum points in their Ashanti regional derby.
The second successive defeat takes last season’s Champions, Asante Kotoko, to 10th on the League table after seven matches into the season.
At the Tema Stadium, second placed Aduana Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to Inter Allies in their mid week game.
Sherriff Mohammed Deo scored a brace and his fourth goal of the season as Inter Allies moved up to 4th on the League table.
Aduana however maintained their second position but are only a point ahead of thir placed Berekum Chelsea.
