The Ghana Football Association has parted ways with national coach Claude Le Roy, abrogating the Frenchman’s contract a month ahead of expiration.
The contract abrogation was at the instance of Le Roy and according to the FA President Kwasi Nyantakyi, a headhunting exercise is already underway for a replacement to be announced before the Black Stars engage Australia later this month.
Le Roy, citing personal reasons declined a two-year contract extension offered by the FA which spelt out new terms and according to Nyantakyi, who spoke with Joy Sports’ Kwadwo Amponsah Mensah, there is no luxury of time to engage in any laborious search for a replacement.
“We will need somebody who can continue with the level of excellence that Claude Le Roy attained with the team. We will need somebody who can continue to steer the affairs of this team and instil the same level of discipline or even higher in the team and improve upon the fortunes of the team as we find it today,” he said.
“We have very important assignments closely ahead of us, come June 1st this year, we will be hosting Libya to a World Cup qualifying match and in the same month of June, we will be playing three World Cup qualifying matches and those pose serious challenges to the technical team of the team. And so we need to gird our loins and ensure that we get an early replacement for Claude Le Roy as soon as possible.”
Le Roy has recently been linked to job searches in South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire and Zambia.
