The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has revealed that Ghana is ready to host the 2021 edition of the Inter Tourism Expo.
The Expo dubbed, "iNTTA2021" on the theme, 'Optimizing Destination Ghana - Our people, brand and culture' is expected to take place from 28th to 30th September, 2021 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
According to the Ministry, they are focused on working with various stakeholders to continue to promote and open up Ghana as the indisputable destination for business.
The Chief Executive Officer and Convener of the Inter Tourism Expo Accra, Mr. Emmanuel Treku in an interview stated that the expo will promote and showcase Ghana as a preferred tourism destination.
The Inter Tourism Expo Accra event, is an elite international gathering of leaders in tourism trade, regulation and investment. It also hosts strategic partners with the aim of creating synergy among key stakeholders. In addition, the event aids and builds lasting business to business (B2B), business to government (B2G) and government to government (G2G) network for Ghana’s inbound tourism market.
The Expo will attract over 150 exhibitors, 200 hosted buyers and 500 trade visitors to participate from across the globe. The event will be crowned with a familiarization trip to celebrate world tourism day.
Aside from showcasing Ghana as a destination of choice for tourism and leisure, the Expo also seeks to consolidate Ghana's leadership position as the gateway to Africa.
It therefore offers insights into existing opportunities for business, leisure, meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions in the ECOWAS sub region via public private partnerships (PPP).
The Expo will address keynote sessions from persons about the industry detailing case studies from destination marketing companies, tourism trade associations, Fintech, and travel technology.
The event will discover new destinations and technology as rising players share their products and solutions. It will further expand visitors’ knowledge and understanding of the Ghanaian traveler through real-world case studies.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture, Mr. Mark Okraku-Mantey has promised government’s unflinching support towards this year’s edition of the Inter Tourism Expo.
He emphasized that the contribution of the media to the revival of tourism in the current Covid-19 era cannot be underestimated.
“At this time when countries are trying to revive their tourism, the media has a significant role to play. I take this opportunity to welcome the media to support tourism to bounce back resiliently,” Mr Okraku-Mantey said.
He also reiterated government’s agenda to promote domestic tourism as indicated in President Akufo-Addo’s commitment at the launch of domestic and regional tourism on the theme ‘’Experience Ghana, Share Ghana".
Mr Okraku-Mantey stated that, "we believe the President's drive and the Ministry's commitment to make tourism the number one GDP of Ghana with five million tour arrivals annually, will be achieved with such partnerships as the inter tourism expo.
The Deputy Minister commended the convener and his team for their innovative ideas and hard work, adding that the strategic options to drive sustainable tourism and economic growth in the industry would require multiple approaches and new technologies such as exhibited by the team.
Mr. Mark Okraku-Mantey invited all interested tourism trade professionals, both home and abroad, to join hands in hosting the Expo successfully.
The Expo is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture and partners with Global Signature which seeks to collaborate with public private partners and investors to address key sustainable tourism issues toward the development of the sector.
