This year’s Ghana Amateur Open Golf Championship tees off at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema from Saturday, March 22 and ends on Monday, March 24.
Mr John Wattenburg, Secretary of the Ghana Golf Association, who announced this at Tema on Monday, said about 200 golfers throughout the Country, are expected to participate in the three-day 54-Hole Scratch competition.
He said the competition, which shall be played under the rules of the World’s Golf Governing body and the local rules of the Celebrity Golf Club, has Handicap 18 and 24 respectively as the entry qualification for the annual event.
Mr. Wattenburg named some of the golfers who had registered for the competition as Charles Tabi, Michael Aggrey, Oswald Amuzu, Rene Kwame, Nick Smallman E.M. Kwami and Mike Ezan.
The Ladies section would also witness stiff opposition from veteran Mona Captan, Mary Asafo-Adjaye, Victoria Adjei, Clara Price and Esi Cobbina.
He said the Professionals would battle each other in a 72-hole event, beginning Friday, March 21, while the juniors take their turn on Saturday, March 22.
Mr. Osei Bonsu Amoah, Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Sports would be the Special Guest of honour.
