Match week one of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season was marred by poor television broadcast quality.
Many fear that if this continues, interest in the league might further deteriorate, as it is already struggling with reputational damage.
Data Bank CEO and Sports Analyst, Kojo Addae-Mensah, suggests that the GFA should restrict the number of channels producing the league to address quality concerns.
“My worry for the Ghana Premier League is really about its publicity. For those of us who follow it, it’s very difficult. The GFA needs to find creative ways to whip up interest,” he told Joy Sports.
“I will advise making radio commentary open to anyone who wants to provide it, so the exposure is there.
“Restrict TV broadcasts to three stations and let them handle it, allowing other stations to pick up from those. People with TVs will sit at home and watch.”
Week two of the Ghana Premier League kick off this Saturday, with four matches set to broadcast on television.
