Choral groups from Ghana and other countries are set to grace the on-going 10th West African Choral and Performing Arts Festival dubbed "Heritage Africa 2006" with two separate concerts slated for today and Saturday respectively.
The events, which will be held in Accra and Cape Coast would serve as prelude to a bigger one planned for next year as part of activities celebrating Ghana's Golden Jubilee.
The Accra event takes place today at the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Hall whilst that of Cape Coast comes off on Saturday.
Admissions to both concerts are free. The festival which started last Tuesday, has groups like the Winneba Youth Choir, Professor Kojo Gavua and Friends, Sogo African Music, Blessed Evangels all from Ghana, Ebony Chorale and Unity Arts Ministry, USA, Twice Music, Amsterdam amongst a host of others from Nigeria in spectacular performances.
The annual festival, which is in its 10th year, serves as an avenue to showcase the rich Ghanaian culture and heritage to the outside world.
According to the organisers, Derby Travel and Tours, the initiative is also in line with government's target to make tourism the number one foreign exchange earner for the country in the near future.
The festival which first took place in 1998 has been successfully organised over the period.
It has seen several international groups from the United Kingdom, USA, Cyprus, Germany and South Africa amongst others being exposed to the often talked about Ghanaian hospitality.
