The Ghana Football Association has agreed a two-year contract extension with Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah.
According to the Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi, the deal expires July 2016 and the development goes a long way to “show our faith in Kwesi Appiah.”
“Yes we have agreed in principle to renew the contract. I am happy the terms satisfy both parties. This clearly shows that we want to work with him and he is also happy and we are also happy,” Nyantakyi told Goal Ghana.
Appiah, who refused to disclose the terms of the contract, told Goal: “It is in the best interest of Ghana and everyone. I’m focused on the World Cup and let’s see how things work out.”
The former Ghana international took over from Serbian Goran Stevanovic in April 2012 and finished fourth at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 53-year-old becomes the first indigenous coach to lead the Black Stars to the World Cup as Ghana prepare to face USA, Germany and Portugal in Group G.
