Ghana’s duo of Yaw Yeboah and Portia Boakye who have both been nominated for CAF Awards have failed to receive official invitation for the ceremony in Abuja.
The duo were nominated a month ago and their failure to be invited will spark speculations about their chances of winning of the award.
Youngster Yaw Yeboah was nominated for the CAF Youth Player of the Year alongside Adama Traore of Mali, Kelechi Nwakali of Nigeria, Samuel Diarra of Mali and Victor Osimhen of Nigeria.
The Lille midfielder was part of Sellas Tetteh’s under 20 team that represented Ghana at the African Youth Championship in Senegal and the World Cup in New Zealand.
Speaking to Asempa Sports, he confirmed that he has not received any invitation.
“I have not got an invite yet for the CAF Awards. Nobody has called me yet. I don’t know if an invite has been sent to Man City while I am on loan in Lille.”
Black Queens forward Portia Boakye who was nominated for the CAF’s Women’s Player of the year confirmed she has also not received any invitation.
“I haven’t heard any word from anyone so I don’t know when I will leave. No one has called me so I’m in Ghana,” Boakye told Asempa Sports
“I haven’t called any coach or anyone in the FA because it will paint me as an anxious person who is rushing.”
“I will be disappointed if I win the award and I have to watch it on television.”
