The 2018 Ghana Dance Festival is officially scheduled to begin on the 1st of September with an exciting full day’s program, running from as early as 6 am to 4 am the following morning.

Ghana is one of three selected African countries offered the chance to battle out for a winner to represent Africa at the Global King and Queen Dance Competition to be held in Jamaica at the WanMove Diaspora Street Dance Conference in November.
The Ultimate Prize is $5000, and on the 1st of September, a dance competition will be held at the Oxford Street to produce the winner.
The fun, however, goes beyond the first day. At least 16 more events and dance activities will be held throughout September under the following broad dance categories: Traditional Dance, Afro-Latin Dance, Street Dance, Praise Dance, DanceSport, Kids Dance and Dance Awards. The dates and location for the various events will be published at the ceremony, and weekly on the Ghana Dance Festival social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and allied media platforms including DanceteraTV.
According to organisers, this year’s event will be used as a tool to help curb the issue of drug abuse, which has recently been more visible in the area of Tramadol Abuse.
President of the Ghana Dance Festival, Robert Klah said, “our large youth base at various touch points gives us direct access to the youth.
We would, therefore, like to use these platforms to create the right sensitization needed to save our youth from this social ill, and we are willing to work any organisation that shares in this goal.”
He also added, “what was launched in 2015 by the Dep. Min. of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Dzifa Gomashie, has grown from 9 sub-events and activities to over 22 with participation from over 10 countries, and working with over 1500 dancers. We are grateful this year, we the support of Joy FM, MTN Pulse, The Black Ride App, Malta Guinness, Max TV and TV7.”
