The woes of the Ghana team in Brazil may have just deepened with the dismissal of Sulley Ali Muntari and Kevin Prince Boateng from camp.

A terse message from under-pressure coach Kwasi Appiah announced the decision Thursday morning.

“Management asked Sulley (Muntari) to leave and I also asked [Kevin] Prince [Boateng] to leave,” Kwasi Appiah confirmed.

The two have been expelled for disciplinary reasons.

Sulley Muntari reportedly slapped a Black Stars Management Committee member, Moses Parker, receiving a punch in return.

A scuffle ensued, according to Joy FM tournament correspondent, Tony Bebli.

According to him, other team members intervened to save the situation.

Kevin Boateng was reported to have verbally abused the coach for what he thought was poor team selection which resulted in the loss to the US.

The campaign of the Black Stars in the 2014 World Cup got to a shaky start with a wobbly, unimpressive opening game against a less fancied United States side.

This was followed by reports of player revolt which the Ghana Football Association vehemently denied.

Things seemed settled and the team rallied to produce a superb performance against a dreaded German side salvaging a point from a game pundits said the Stars should have won.

The cracks in the team resurfaced with the players demanding their appearance fee.

Government flew in cash and paid the players their appearance fee of $100,000 each Wednesday evening.

But that appears not to be enough to bring about calm in the camp.

FA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie Daara later told Metro TV the two players had to be sent home to ensure discipline is maintained in camp.

According to him, Muntari attacked the management member "unprovoked" and that is the height of indiscipline.

Ghana play Portugal later Thursday in a must win final Group G encounter, while hoping there will be a favorable result in the US, Germany clash in order to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition.
