Ghana would know its group opponents for next year’s African Youth Championship this evening when the draws are made in Kigali.
Eight countries would be drawn into two groups of four each for the 16th edition of the two week long tournament. Rwanda and Nigeria have been seeded.
The seeding was not based on the Fifa rankings but solely on the fact that Rwanda is the host nation while Nigeria has won many African youth championship titles following Congo Brazzaville's failure to qualify for next year's edition.
Ghana has a representative at the draw for the two-week tournament to be hosted by Rwanda beginning January 18-February 1.
The Caf African Youth Championship is a major international football competition for Caf nations, played by less than 20 years old players and it is held every two years with the top 4 teams qualifying for the Fifa World Youth Championship.
Ghana’s Black Satellites have started their pre-tournament build-up by taking part in a sub-regional football tournament, Wafu Cup for West African countries.
The Wafu Cup begins today in Nigeria with Ghana playing Senegal in their opening game.
