Ghana Athletics has scheduled the weekend of October 20 and 22, 2023, for its maiden Master's athletics competition.
The track and field event, which will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, is designed for athletes who are aged 35 and above.
Each category of the event will have athletes within a five years range compete for honours. Athletes who are 35 will only compete against those who are between 35 and 39, while 40 will be in same category as those who are 45 and so forth.
Whereas the track events involve 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1,500m, the field would have competitors for high and long jump, as well as triple jump and dicuss.
This will be the first competition under new Ghana Athletics president, Bawah Fuseini, who was voted leader of the athletics governing body in August this year.
