The 7th Ghana Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programme (GFELTP) is set to make significant progress in addressing public health challenges in Ghana.
In collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS), GFELTP aims to strengthen public health systems and enhance the country’s emergency response capabilities.
Key focus areas include managing outbreaks such as monkeypox and cholera.
The programme serves as a platform for discussing innovative solutions to public health issues, promoting real-time surveillance through technology, and implementing targeted vaccination campaigns.
The Director-General of GHS, Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye highlighted the vital role played by personnel trained under the GFELTP in improving disease surveillance and managing outbreaks.
Professor Kenu emphasised the objectives of the partnership between GFELTP and GHS, shedding light on some of the technologies employed for detecting disease outbreaks.
Dr Ameme provided updates on the monkeypox outbreak and detailed measures for its containment.
He stressed the importance of leveraging technology for data collection and outbreak monitoring to minimise response delays and improve health outcomes.
