The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has presented buses to nine clubs in fulfilment of its promise to support clubs.
Teams from the Ghana Premier League and Division One League were the recipients in the presentation ceremony held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Young Apostles, Okwahu United, New Edubiase United, Basake Holy Stars, and Vision FC, among others, received the buses.
The initiative aims to improve clubs’ transportation logistics, thereby enhancing their operational efficiency and competitiveness.
Founder of Vision FC, Mr. George Aforklenyuie, believes it will go a long way to curb the club's transportation crisis during match days.
“It will be a long way to help our course; the current bus we have here, though it looks new but has a bit of fault, last time we were on our way to Brong Ahafo, I understand that our bus broke down three times on the way,” he told JoySports.
“This one has come to solve that problem, and in fact we lost that much, terrible if you remember the score line of 3 goals to nil.”
“It’s all because of the journey, the routes, and the bus we used. This time around, I can assure you, with this bus, we are not going to record that abysmal anymore."
Today's ceremony begins the fulfilment of a promise made to clubs across the first three tiers of Ghana Football.
Nine months ago, GFA President Kurt Okraku said "the strategy is to invest in thirty buses for clubs in the three tier Leagues of Ghana to enhance performance and growth of the domestic game."
The GFA is yet to distribute the rest of the buses as they remain at the Tema Harbour, awaiting clearance.
