Ghana’s Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has clarified that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) did not engage the government’s transitional team on the future of Black Stars coach Otto Addo.
Speaking on Sporty FM, Adams revealed that none of the officials handling sports-related matters in the transitional team had informed him of any discussions with the GFA regarding Addo’s stay or potential changes to the technical team.
“None of the people working in the sports-related areas of the transitional team has indicated to me their involvement or that they have been approached by the GFA ExCo on Otto Addo staying or not staying, or any additions being made to the technical team,” he stated.
His comments come amid uncertainty over Otto Addo’s long-term role as Black Stars coach following Ghana’s poor performance at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. While the GFA recently made adjustments to the technical team, there has been no official word on whether Addo will continue in his position.
With Adams awaiting approval from Parliament’s Appointments Committee, his administration could play a key role in shaping the future of Ghana’s national team setup.
