GFA boss testifies at EOCO

Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kwesi Nyantakyi has responded to an invitation by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in respect of ongoing investigations by the state institution following its recent raid at the FA. The FA president, who was accompanied by his lawyer as requested by him, appeared at the Crime Office on the last two days of last year, to be precise, on Thursday, December 30 and Friday, December 31 2010. An unimpeachable source told the Graphic Sports that the FA capo, in his testimony, answered questions and wrote a statement on issues very relevant to the investigation. The source said the meeting with Nyantakyi was inconclusive on the first day, compelling the GFA boss to reappear the following day to finish his answers and the written statement. Earlier on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 two other officers had appeared before the EOCO in the persons of the Acountant of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the FA scribe, Kofi Nsiah, the source said. But as the source indicated, Mr Nsiah who msd a brief appearance also said he could only respond to questions in the presence of his lawyer and asked that he be permitted to leave and return later. Accordingly, the FA scribe is believed to have rescheduled his meeting with the EOCO tentatively today or tomorrow. Source: Graphic Sports
