Spanish side Getafe have snubbed Ghana after refusing to release of midfielder Dereck Boateng for the African Cup of Nations.
The midfielder was given a late call-up in the wake of serious injuries to several members of the 23-man squad called for the tournament in Angola.
But Getafe rejected the plea from the Ghana FA on the grounds that it violates Fifa laws on the invitation of players for major competitions.
Fifa laws require clubs to be informed of the invitation of their players for major tournaments two weeks ahead of the competition.
This means Getafe will report the country to Fifa if Boateng is used during the three-week continental tournament as they have the law on their side.
Holland-based striker Ransford Osei was called in place of Boateng as Haminu Dramani, who was named as a forward, is expected to revert to his position as a winger
The Black Stars have been ravaged by injuries as key players Stephen Appiah and Laryea Kingston have already been ruled out of thetournament.
Deputy captain John Mensah and John Paintsil will also not play in the tournament because of injuries they suffered in England.
