The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it has launched an internal inquiry into the tragic passing of a first-year student at Aburi Girls Senior High School.
Additionally, it stated that it is actively collaborating with law enforcement agencies to conduct an independent investigation into the incident.
In a press release issued on Monday, February 12, the GES revealed that its Director-General had visited both the school and the home of the bereaved family.
The statement, signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, extended heartfelt condolences to the friends and families of the deceased.
"Management has also deployed a nine-member team of counsellors to beef up the Guidance and Counseling Department of the school to provide psycho-social support for the students and staff.
"Meanwhile, an internal investigation is ongoing and Management is also working closely with the law enforcement agencies to independently investigate the matter."

"GES assures our stakeholders and the public of our continued commitment to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students."
The first-year student of the school is said to have died after allegedly being denied medical attention by the school nurse.
Speaking to journalists after an engagement with school authorities on February 9, the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong said, “I have been given a briefing by the management of the school. Because of the nature of the passing of the student, it becomes a conversation which requires law enforcement agencies, in particular, the CID of the Ghana Police, to come in and investigate the matter for us."
