The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has summoned the undefeated Cruiser Weight, boxer Braimah Kamoko before its disciplinary committee over alleged assault cases.
President of the Authority, Lawyer Peter Zwennes confirmed this in an exclusive interview with Joy Sports.
Bukom Banku was released from police custody after he was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after a scuffle with a group he accused of singing derogatory songs about his wife.
Banku has denied assaulting anybody. However, Peter Zwennes, who doubles as a member of the GBA's disciplinary committee told Joy Sports it is high time to call Banku to order.
"I think it's gotten to a point where we have to invite [him]. In previous assault cases we did not go to its logical conclusions. We will have to invite him to let him know that his activities are an embarrassment to the sport and the profession and warn him of the possible dangers," he added.
In November last year Braimah Kamoko was arrested for allegedly beating a 28-year-old footballer Richmond Armah, resulting in injuries to his face but was granted bail by Jamestown Police District Crime Officer, DSP John Anane after investigations into the matter.
Despite the recurring negative stories of assault against Bukom Banku, the boxer appears indifferent about the implications such stories would have on his boxing image.
He told JOY Sports in an interview after his release he cannot be bothered about likely punitive measures the Ghana Boxing Authority may take against him
"I have not regretted anything because I am innocent. You know I am a rich guy and with these poor people surrounding me, they are nothing but jealous [of me], Banku said.
It is not clear if further charges will be pressed against the popular light heavyweight contender.
