The Ga Youth for the Advancement of Justice and Democracy on Friday set out five demands for the government to address in respect to the proposed purchase of a state bungalow by Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, former Tourism Minister.
Mr Herbert Nii Akai Nettey, President of the group, who listed the demands at a press conference in Accra, said their action was aimed at eliminating greed among public functionaries and preserving the interest of the state.
The demands include a halt to the proposed sale of the property by President John Agyekum Kufuor and a call on Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey to pull out of the deal and vacate the property since he is no longer a serving Minister.
He said the state should revert the property to the original owners as enshrined in the constitution.
The youth said: "Nana Akufo-Addo, flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party, whose campaign Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey is managing, should make his stance known on the issue."
Nii Akai Nettey said the group would continue to picket the residence of Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey if their demands were not met after its first round of picketing, scheduled for Monday December 22, this year. He called on all well-meaning Ghanaians to join the group to uphold the constitution and preserve the interest of the state.
