Plans are far advanced to release lands inappropriately acquired by government to their owners within next week.
Government announced its intention to give the lands back their owners following intense agitation the Ga chiefs and Ga Adangme associations who threatened to make NPP unpopular if the lands are not returned by November 10.
The co-ordinator of the release of the lands, Dr. Odamey Larbi told Joy News physical inspection of lands is expected to take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2008.
He said a lot of work done and that surveyors had demarcated all the portions to be returned to their original ownersparticular parcels of land, owners will have their land by next week.
“A new executive instrument that will release land will be prepared and signed by the Minister of Lands,” adding that the signing of the instruments by minister will be the final stage to releasing the land.
Dr. Larbi said they were not being pushed by the November 10 ultimatum given to government by the Ga chiefs.
He explained that the process of releasing involved only owners of lands earmarked to be released.
The percentages of lands to be given out, he said are already agreed on by the government and the owners of the lands.
A member of the Ga-Adangme coalition at the forefront of the agitation Nii Amo accused the government of playing a cat and mouse game with people.
He said the government had not met the chiefs as part plans to release the lands.
Nii Amo reiterated the Ga-Adangme coalition’s stands on going on a series of demeonstrations if the lands are not returned by the November 10.
