Group B runners-up DR Congo this week became only the third country after Guinea (2015) and Mali (1972) to reach the knockout stage without winning any of their three group games.
90'+1 The game is over. It is a goal glut. But DR Congo are in the semi-finals after a long absence at that stage!!!!!! Coach Florent Ibenge has won against Claude Le Roy's men!!!!
Claude Le Roy's men, Congo Brazaville are out of the 2015 AFCON
89' Goal!!!!! Dieumerci Mbokani muscles himself along side a defender to pass the ball into the net after his initial attempt rebounded against the keeper
85' Bolassie fails to kill the game after running on the left into a one-on- one with the keeper. He kciks the ball right into the keeper's arms. Poor shot, poor preference when two defenders were in arces of space waiting for a pass into the center. Will it be punished?
82' DR Congo have taken the lead for the first time as Joël Kimwaki heads a freekick from the left side. He planted the header into the bottom corner
74' DR Congo are back in it!!!! Bokila makes up for his earlier miss after a thunder of a shot inside the box. Mafoumbi could do nothing about the blasted shot.
73' Substitution, Congo. Dominique Malonga replaces Ferebory Dore because of an injury.
67' Awful miss by Jeremy Bokila. The same pattern Bolassie used to set up the chance has been used again. But Bokila fires low across the face of goal. The game has been very fluid all of a sudden. But it is poor defending more than superior attacking that is doing the trick.
66' DR Congo Dieumerci Mbokani has scored. Bolasie did all the work runing into the box on the right and cutting back a pass to find Mbokani whose low shot finds the net. Two defenders were in the post but were rooted to the spot.
65' Substitution, Congo DR. Neeskens Kebano replaces Cedrick.
62' A poor DR Congo pass in their own area has been punished. Thievy Bifouma has fired Congo into the quarterfinals, you would think!!!
52' Ferebory Dore (Congo) right footed shot from very close range to the top left corner. Assisted by Delvin N'Dinga with a cross following a set piece situation.
50' Jeremy Bokila (Congo DR) hits the bar with a left footed shot from the centre of the box after getting some assisted from a headed pass by Dieumerci Mbokani.
45' DR Congo player exagerates his fall inside the penalty box.
HT: DR Congo has had a dominant spell but Congo responded halfway through the game. But both teams have been less than impressive in attack, leaving the game goaless at half time
44' Game stopped after DR Congo's Gabriel Zakuani looks to be in pain after a challenge on him. It is his ankle. Limps off with the injury. Is his game over?
41' Congo get a freekick from some 30 yards.Similar to what DR Congo got minutes ago. And similar show of inferiority. Congo's Ferebory Dore show they cannot be outdone in taking poor shots with set pieces. Very disappointing.
37' Congo DR Jean Kasusula's left-footed freekick is an embarrassment. Does he train to take them?
33' Attempt saved. Jeremy Bokila (Congo DR) left footed shot from the centre of the box is saved in the bottom left corner. Assisted by Cedrick with a cross.
30' Congo's attempt forward is undone after a player, Francis Litsingi, clips the heel of DR Congo midfielder.
28' Congo now warming themselves into the game. They are keeping the ball on the ground. Trying some passes. But a little more composure and confidence around the last third is lacking. There will be no coin toss here to determine the winner after a draw. They should know
20' DR Congo showing more conviction. They have had 5 shots already and 3 corners. But no extra points for conviction. They have not made those chances count yet.
15' DR Congo have their tails up. Two good chances gone. Cedrick down the right surges, cuts back a pass. The ball falls delighfully for Jeremy Bokila but the fairly weak shot to the near post and into the welcoming arms of the goal keeper
12' A Dieumerci Mbokani header goes wide after a nice cross meets the shiny head of DR Congo player to bounce off and over the cross bar. No direction
BBC Match Preview
The two countries divided by one river will compete in the first quarter-final clash at AFCON 2015. It is DR Congo versus neighbours Congo
DR Congo will be without injured skipper Youssouf Mulumbu, who also missed the final group game against Tunisia with a hamstring injury.
They qualified with three draws and know they must be more clinical to progress further in the competition.
Congo hope coach Claude LeRoy's two stints as DR Congo coach will give them some inside knowledge and an advantage.
LeRoy is in confident mood: "Our potential, talent, vigour make us a good bet for the semi-finals."
It will be the first meeting between the two neighbours in 41 years when Congo beat DR Congo (then Zaire) 2-1 in Alexandria, Egypt.
And historically there has been a frosty relationship between the two countries. There are many families separated on either side of the border and there are political difficulties.
