"For me, God does not disappoint," says Cornelius Agbenegah Mawuli, a promising young footballer embarking on the journey of his budding career.

For many kids whose dreams revolve around becoming professional athletes, the path to success can be a challenging and arduous one, particularly in regions overflowing with talent but lacking adequate infrastructure and a support system.

Africa and South America have been the epicenters of football excellence, boasting numerous successful individuals who have left their mark on the game, including legends like Pelé, Lionel Messi and modern-day talents like Gabriel Jesus and Mohammed Kudus, amongst others.

These football icons hail from backgrounds that resonate with the familiar narrative of enduring hardship before attaining stardom.

Mawuli, a 19-year-old forward who can also play as an attacking midfielder, known by his nickname "Cikay," is no exception to this story. Hailing from Keta, Mawuli possesses remarkable qualities that captivate spectators when he graces the pitch, whether it's in casual pick-up games or official club matches.

His skillful left foot draws comparisons to Ghana's Sulley Muntari, while his blend of pace and fluidity on the field evokes memories of France's Thierry Henry.

"I faced rejection from numerous clubs and academies in Ghana. Nevertheless, I always held onto the dream of playing professional football one day, fueled by the belief that “my hard work would pay off," he shared during an interview with JW Sports.org.

The adage, "the rejected stone shall one day be a cornerstone" aptly encapsulates Mawuli's journey, as he eventually secured a transfer from the Top Scout Soccer Academy to Brazil's second-tier club, Gremio Novorizotino.

"Special thanks to Inter Allies, who partnered with Top-Scout Academy, providing me with the platform to showcase my talent, which eventually led to my contract with my current club in Brazil," he expressed his gratitude.

Mawuli's talent also earned him opportunities with Abu Dhabi clubs, courtesy of MSK Zilina Africa's Asia Soccer tour in the UAE. His fearless performance on and off the ball, impeccable dribbling control, keen game vision, and precision in passing made him stand out.

Furthermore, he is a lethal goal scorer, equally proficient with both feet and an expert in dead-ball situations, often curling the ball past even the most formidable walls.

After his contract abroad came to an end, Mawuli returned to Ghana in search of a fresh start, ultimately rejoining Top-Scout Academy, a place that once felt like home before his globetrotting adventures.

This burgeoning talent has defied all odds to realize his dream of playing in Brazil, a nation that breathes football in every nook and cranny, from the streets and fields to homes and beaches. In Brasília, the passion for the beautiful game is woven into the very fabric of the city's culture.
