In a heart-warming display of generosity and commitment to community welfare, the Freemasons of the Sir Charles Techie-Menson Lodge have made a significant donation of medical supplies to the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital in Accra.
This initiative, under the auspices of the District Grand Lodge of Ghana, under the United Grand Lodge of England, aims to bolster the hospital’s capacity to provide critical healthcare services to children from across the country.
The donation, which includes essential medical equipment is a timely intervention.
With healthcare facilities across Ghana facing mounting pressures due to a growing population, particularly in pediatric care, these items will significantly enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver life-saving treatment to its young patients.
Presenting the items, John Ofori Gyamfi, the Worshipful Master of the Sir Charles Tachie-Menson Lodge, highlighted the Lodge’s annual commitment to philanthropy.
“Every year, every lodge undertakes a charity project. This year, we chose to support the Princess Marie Louise Hospital to ensure that the infants here receive the care they need,” he stated.
He further explained that the decision to support this particular hospital was influenced by the urgent need to address conditions like 'kwashiorkor' which is a severe form of malnutrition that affects some children in the country.
“We were deeply moved by the plight of children suffering from kwashiorkor, and we felt compelled to contribute to their care,” he added.
The Worshipful Master also took the opportunity to clarify misconceptions about Freemasonry, emphasizing that at its core, the organization is about charity and fostering brotherly love.
“Freemasons engage in numerous charitable projects for the benefit of society. Charity, benevolence, and brotherly love are the principles we live by,” he revealed.
Looking to the future, he expressed the Lodge’s ambition to embark on more charitable initiatives, noting that Freemasonry, with its rich history spanning over 300 years, is driven by the desire to make a positive impact on society.
The hospital staff expressed profound gratitude for the donation, recognizing the crucial role these supplies will play in ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality care. They also expressed hope that the Freemasons would keep the Princess Marie Louise Hospital in their charitable endeavors in the years to come.
