The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has organized the 2019 edition of its “Investment Promotions Mission” to China in an effort to rake in more Foreign Direct Investment (FDIs).
The investment mission which was a collaborative effort by the GFZA, the Ghana Embassy in China and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) was held under the theme ‘Ghana –China Industrial Parks Development: Opportunities for Win-Win Cooperation.’
The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Carlos Ahenkorah, who led the Ghanaian delegation said the mission was organized to expose existing free zone companies to business opportunities in China.

Investors
In all, 21 Ghanaian businesses participated in the investment mission which was also expected to help sell the Ghana brand to Chinese investors.
Other members of the delegation included the Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the GFZA, Kate Djankwei Abbei and Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC), Abraham Kofi Asante.

Business Forum
As part of the investment mission, the delegation participated in a business forum which was attended by representatives of over 90 Chinese companies and Business to Business (B2B) meetings.

The delegation also visited the secretariat of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) and toured Markor Furnishings in Tianjin.

Companies and institutions that participated in the investment mission were; Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC), Oro Oil Ghana Limited, RAMEC Limited, Unijay Limited, Fruit and Export Terminal Ghana Limited, Pinora Limited and Image Outre.
Lasting four days, the investment mission enabled the delegation to hold talks with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import.
