Parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Madina, has donated various items to selected institutions within the La-Nkwantanang Madina Municipality as part of his efforts against the spread of the new coronavirus.
The items donated included; 2500 pieces of hand gloves, 500 pieces of face mask, 500 bottles of 40ml hand sanitisers, 600 gallons of 2.5L liquid soap, 10 gallons of 5L liquid soap, 10 gallons of 50L (Kuffuor gallons) liquid soap, 100packs of hand tissue and 24 pieces of Veronica buckets.
The outreach comes in the wake of increasing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ghana. The Ghana Health Service recorded 137 individuals who have tested positive of the virus, four deaths and two recoveries.
According to Lawyer Sosu, his decision to embark on this outreach is motivated by his belief that hand washing is the best way to overcome the virus.
“Not everyone can buy hand sanitisers and the use of sanitisers are not as sustainable as washing hands under running water and soap. For water and soap, every Ghanaian can have access. The World Health Organisation has recommended that safe hands through frequent hand wash with soap under running water is the best method of keeping safe," the renowned human rights lawyer explained.
He advised that all persons within Madina Constituency should endeavor to abide by all the public protocols in order to stay safe.
Chief Superintendent Anyan, the Divisional Commander of the Madina Division of the Ghana Police Service who on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, received the portion meant for the Police Service, thanked Lawyer Sosu for his kind gesture towards humanity.
The Police received five Veronica Buckets, 400 gloves, 20 Robbing alcohol, 50 gallons of liquid soap and 50 pieces of hand sanitisers.
Other beneficiaries are set to get theirs on Saturday March 28, 2020. These beneficiaries include the palace of Chief Baba Seidu (Baba Sariki), the Chief of Madina, the Ewe Chief of Madina, Taxi stations, trotro stations, community centres at Oyarifa, Pantang Village and Danfa.
