Human rights and public interest lawyer, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has promised to help the youth if voted to represent the people in Madina in the December 7, 2020 polls.
The Parliamentary candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Madina made the pledge when he gave a brief speech at a fundraising event organised by his office in support of his 2020 campaign.
The fundraising which was held at the Queen Of Peace Parish Hall, Madina on February 16, was dubbed "Gathering of Gold Friends of Lawyer Sosu". The event brought together Friends of Lawyer Sosu from business, academia and politics.
Also present were some parliamentary candidates of the NDC in Greater Accra region, constituency executives of Madina, senior comrades of the party, former presidential aspirants among many others.
Speaking to the gathering, Mr Sosu said “I know many politicians have failed you. I know most of you the youth have lost hope in politicians.”
“I wish to assure you all, given my background and track record in service to mankind that, I will do everything I can to support the youth. I am also a youth and understand the plight of the youth. Our youth need mentorship, skills and training in order for them to create sustainable opportunities for themselves.
“In 2015, I established the Center For Poverty Alleviation in Madina at Zongo Junction to train vulnerable girls in sewing for free. I am committed to Youth Empowerment through Job Creation. I believe in the future of the youth in Madina and shall partner with appropriate projects, individuals and businesses to give the youth of Madina sustainable employable skills, entrepreneurship training and mentorship,” Sosu added.
The legal practitioner further pledged to operate career centers for the youth across the constituency and the project will have a database of unemployed youth in the constituency and will provide them with periodic information on available jobs through "Job Fairs".
