Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has advised Ghanaians against travelling to some regions in the northern part of Mali.
In a press release, the Ministry said the decision was a result of a recent security threat along the major highways linking Mali and Niger, particularly the Gao and Ansongo Regions of Northern Mali.
The Ministry noted that there have been reports of terrorists harassing commuters who use the routes.
“The Ministry remains committed to the safety of Ghanaians and will provide updates on the security situation in the region under reference in due course,” the statement read.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry urged the general public to always prioritise their safety when travelling.
