An 11-year-old girl has drowned in flood waters at Anwomaso High Tension in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
According to family accounts, Agartha Oforiwaa, a class four pupil, was swept away by the fast-moving water during Tuesday night's downpour.
She is said to have been playing with her friends in the rain when she slipped and fell along a bridge in the community.
The girl's body was later found the following morning, few metres away from the accident scene.
She was rushed to the Emena Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
This latest incident brings the death toll in Ashanti region's floods to 7 in a fortnight.
