Floods have destroyed properties of some residents living near the Odaw river close to the Christian Methodist Senior High School in Accra.
The rain which lasted for about 15 minutes caused the Odaw river to overflow its banks, in the process leading to flooding.
Students of the school were compelled to end their exams abruptly when their class rooms were flooded.
Some students who spoke to Joy News said the rains had disrupted their studies and soaked some of their learning materials.
One of the affected residents admitted they had been told by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to leave the area because it is flood-prone.
He however, blamed the floods on the dumping of waste materials into the drain.
The Deputy Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Alhaji Yirimea said the organisation had not received any distress call from affected residents.
He however, added that the staff of the organisation were on stand-by to deal with any disaster that may result from the floods.
He expressed regret that some of the residents were recalcitrant and refused to listen to warnings to leave the flood-prone areas.
