Wondering how to get all the notices from the different departments of your university without having to go there in person? Or thinking about how to stay up to date on the latest gossip on campus? Think Flippy Campus.

Flippy Campus is a mobile application built by a group of students which aims at helping students on the various campuses obtain and share information easily and at no cost -- all you need is internet connection, and of course the app installed on your mobile device.

The app is the brainchild of David Mumuni, who said his motivation for building the app was as a result of bitter experience he had a few years ago: he missed an important quiz because he had forgotten the date and time.

That was a painful experience for the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology student, but he has resolved not to let anyone go through that.

With the app, students can join specific notice boards on their campuses to get a minute-by-minute update of information posted on these notice boards.

According to David, Flippy Campus creates a virtual notice board that mirrors exactly what students would find on campus and fits onto their phones.

Students can access their timetables, get reminders for interim assessments (IAs) and examination through the app.

The app was recently launched at Ghana's premier university, the University of Ghana and has received rave reviews so far.

In less than a week, more than 1,000 downloads have been made.

On the February 14 -- Valentine's Day -- over 300 students used the app to find out what events are happening and where to hang out with their loved ones, said David Mumuni.

Currently, the app only supports Android platforms and can easily be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

"I have received lots of requests to deploy Flippy Campus for Windows, IPhones and Blackberry devices as well, and plans are underway to build versions for these mobile platforms", said David.

The app will soon be launched at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Cape Coast (UCC) and other universities across the country.

Interested persons can download the app from the Play Store or visit the Flippy site on www.flippygh.com.
