Five people died on the spot on Wednesday morning when their Hyundai vehicle rammed into an articulator vehicle at Tesano near Achimota in Accra.
Joy News’ Sammy Darko who chanced on the scene reports that as at 8:00am, eyewitnesses shivered and wailed as police used axes and other objects to remove the mutilated bodies from the mangled car.
According to an eyewitness, the Hyundai salon car with registration number GR 897 – 09 on top speed attempted to overtake an unidentified Toyota vehicle at Apenkwa fuel filling station at Tesano.
The Toyota vehicle crossed the Hyundai in the process. According to the eye witness, the Hyundai vehicle in an attempt to avoid collision, swerved but ran into the stationary articulator vehicle killing five of its occupants, who are all suspected to be below 25 years.
Family members say the boys were heading towards Tantra Hill where they reside.
The bodies have been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue.
