Ghana's High Jumper, Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah has claimed gold at the ongoing World University Games after clearing the bar at 1.94m, setting a new a new national record in the process.
The University of Cape Coast student's personal best leap was enough to defeat Cyprus' Elena Kulichenko who finished on 1.91m for silver while Finland's Venla Pulkkanen settled for bronze with a personal best of 1.89m.
The gold medal crowns an incredible last three years for the 21-year-old who also won gold at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Mauritius last year, to add to the gold she also won at the African Games in Rabat, Morocco in 2019.
Her new leap beat Abigail's Kwarteng's previous national record of 1.92m set in 2022.
She will represent Ghana at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest after her participation was confirmed on Sunday.
The FISU Games is the largest international multi-sport event for student athletes across the world with more than 2,500 participants from over 50 countries partaking in the 11-day event.
