A fisherman, who was alleged to have lured a nine year old girl into an uncompleted building and defiled her, was on Monday remanded in prison custody by a circuit court in Cape Coast.
Kwame Ewusi, from Nankesedo near Saltpond, pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement and would re-appear on Wednesday, September 19.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo, told the court presided over by Mr Asiedu Badu that in the afternoon of Wednesday, August 22 this year, Ewusi met the victim who also lives at Nankesedo at the beach and promised to buy her a miniature coal-pot to play with.
He alleged that, Ewusi asked the victim to wait for him whilst he goes to buy the coal pot, but returned later with a doughnut worth GH 10 pesewas and gave it to her.
Chief Inspector Azasoo said Ewusi then lured the girl into an uncompleted building, defiled her and warned her not to tell anyone.
He said a few days later the girl complained of abdominal pains and the mother sent her to the hospital, where it was detected that she had been defiled and identified Ewusi as the culprit.
