A former Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, Geoff Fisher returned a net score of 70 to win this month’s Achimota Golf Club Medal Open Championship played at Achimota golf course in Accra on Saturday.
Fisher was followed closely by Theophilous Govinous who defeated Sam Bannerman-Wood on count-back after they both returned 73 net score.
In the Division ‘B’ encounter, Sampene Garbrah came first with 70 net, beating Emmanuel Quarcoo on count-back, while Felix Majekodunmi placed third with 74 net, beating Jacob Aryee on count-back.
Bridgette Harrington won the Ladies event with 69 net followed by Victoria Adjei at second position with 71 net with Joy Arkutu taking the third position with 75 net while Florence Etwi-Barimah placed fourth with 77 net.
The Professional’s event was won by Robert Aziamakpor with 71 gross, followed by Stephen Klah with 72 gross, John Dorman came third with 73 gross, David Doe placed fourth with 74 gross while Cosmos Dzikunu took the fifth position with 75 gross.
The one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition which was opened to amateur and professional golfers was sponsored by PricewaterHouseCoopers.
Mr Bob Evans, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club thanked the company for the sponsorship and expressed the hope that other companies would help develop the sport.
Mr Felix Addo, Senior Partner of PricewaterHouseCoopers called on the youth to take active interest to keep them in a healthy mind.
