Ghana National Fire Service Ladies defeated Greater Accra Markets Association 1-0 to win this year's International Family Day Soccer Gala played at the Nicholson Sports Stadium at Burma Camp in Accra on Saturday.
Centre forward Abigail Yartey netted the only goal of the match for her side in the 12th minute after wasting a countless scoring chances.
On their way to the finals, the champions edged out National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) 2-0, while Markets Association also eliminated Castle Ladies 2-0.
NAGRAT took the third position by beating Greater Accra Markets Association 1-0.
The Best Player award went to Abigail Yartey of Fire Service, the Most Promising Team award was won by Markets Association while the Well-Behaved team award went to NAGRAT with the Elegant Team award going to Castle Ladies.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs, formed part of activities marking the celebration of this year's International Family Day.
Hajia Hawawu Boya Gariba, Deputy Minister of Women and Children's Affairs who presented the prizes to the winners, praised the participants for the sportsmanship exhibited throughout the game.
She urged parents to take active interest in the education of their children to enable them to grow to become useful citizens.
