A fire outbreak at Fise, a suburb of Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region has resulted in the death of four children.
According to the Ghana Fire Service, investigations have commenced in finding the origin and cause of the incident.
Mr Ellis Robbinson Okoe, Head of Public Relations at the Fire Service stated that the department upon receiving the distress call proceeded to the location.
"We had a distress call that there was a fire outbreak at Amasaman and when we got to the scene, we realized that three out of six-bedroom self-contain houses had been burnt by the fire.
He stated that although they managed to put out the fire, they were unable to save the lives of the children.
"Although our men were able to douse the fire, they realized the four children in there had all passed away," he said.
Sources say the children who lived in a three-bedroom apartment could not find a way out when the building caught fire.
"Before she (mother of children) left for church, she did not inform any of her neighbours about her children being at home.
"And the place was locked up so the children couldn't come out."
Mr Robbinson Okoe has advised parents to ensure they leave their children in the care of adults when they have to leave home.
"We want to advise parents that if they are leaving the house, especially those who live in compound houses. If you have to leave your children at home, try to inform other tenants before leaving," he added.
