Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has advised Ghanaians to stay away from violent activities ahead of the 2020 general elections.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM he stated that it is more beneficial for people to fight for themselves and their communities by voting for the right leaders.
“I don’t know why someone will go and fight for a politician...when you know that when he comes to power he won't come to your area again until another election,” he said.
His comment comes after some members of two major political parties - New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) - clashed last Sunday.
In a number of video clips widely shared on social media platforms, the supporters of the two main parties were seen throwing bottles as well as hurling stones and insults at each other.
Shatta Wale told Andy Dosty, host of the show, that it was time people put their energies into evaluating political aspirants instead of fighting eachother.
This, he said, will help them select a good leader who can transform their lives with good policies.
“If you want to fight, fight for yourself by voting. Just use your thumb and vote because that is your power. But if you fight someone and end up in prison don't blame anyone,” he said.
