The Atwima Mponua District Mass Cocoa spraying Task Force has dismissed 55 of its spraying Supervisors for financial malpractices.
They were dismissed for illegally deducting September salaries of the Mass Cocoa sprayers in the District.
Instead of paying each cocoa sprayer GH¢40 the dismissed 55 Supervisors paid each cocoa sprayer GH¢20.
Mr Wilberforce Owusu Ansah, District Chief Executive (DCE), who is also the chairman of the Task Force, disclosed this, when he met chief farmers, mass cocoa spraying supervisors and staff of Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) on Friday at Nyinahin.
Mr Owusu Ansah said the Supervisors after collecting the salaries of the spraying gangs from the Atwima Mponua District Account Office, illegally deducted GH¢20 each from the actual amount when paying their salaries for September.
He said some staff of the district, MOFA were allegedly involved in the deal.
Mr Owusu Ansah said the case has been referred to Police and Bureau National Investigations (BNI) and those found guilty would also be fired.
In another development, a Nissan Pick-Up with registration number GR 4430 G has been impounded by the Nyinahin Police for carrying 65 cartons of "Akate Master", an insecticide meant for the mass cocoa spraying exercise in the district.
