Residents of Ablekuma and its surrounding areas have been griped with fear following recent armed robbery cases in six houses in two weeks.
The robbery has resulted in the loss of property and cash worth millions of cedis.
In the most recent one which occurred on Sunday, April 15, the robbers made away with 400 dollars, three million cedis, jewellery, two mobile phones and drinks.
The victim Florence Adamah, 25, told the GNA that at 0211 hours on Sunday, their residence was attacked by five unmasked men who assaulted them and demanded to know the whereabouts of one, Sister Ama.
She said the robbers told her that their attack was based on information that, one Sister Ama who had just arrived from abroad and was lodging with them had ¢18 million with her.
According to the victim, the robbers hinted that they were operating to fulfill a ¢70 million contract awarded them and they had come to demand ¢30 million to add up to the ¢40 million they had stolen so far.
Ms Adomah said the robbers who spent an hour at the residence also assaulted a neighbour, Kwaku, who came to their assistance.
She stated that the incidence had been reported to the Anyaa police station where investigations were ongoing.
The gang which earlier attacked the residence of a female in the vicinity is suspected to be the same people who attacked four houses two weeks ago.
Some residents also confirmed reports of young men who patrol with cars and motorcycles at night, asking for the whereabouts of someone who had recently arrived from abroad.
They alleged that the robbers were operating based on information provided by someone in the locality and appealed to the Police to reinforce their patrols to control their activities.
