Matchday 19 came with one main thing - goals. Six venues recorded three or more goals, with five venues getting four or more. There were exciting comebacks, sensational late goals and, in Kotoko's case, humbling defeats.

Here's the wrap. 

Medeama 4-1 Lions

First Capital Plus Premier League leading goalscorer Nathaniel Asamoah hit a brace to help Medeama beat Heart of Lions 4-1 at the T &A park on Sunday.

Asamoah scored the opener in the 21st minute before Akwesi Donsu doubled the lead for the Mauves and the league’s topscorer found the back of the net again in the 42nd minute to give Medeama a 3-0 lead at half time.

That was not all from coach Tom Strand’s side as skipper Hans Kwofie’s 50th minute shot beat Kwame Baah in post for Heart of Lions.

Lions however pulled one back five minutes later courtesy Daniel Bonsu’s goal. The game was held up for some minutes after Hudu Yakubu was handed a red card in the 74th minute but Heart of Lions managed to prevent Medeama from scoring any more goals as the game ended 4-1.

The results has seen Medeama move to 7th on the league table while Lions are 13th with 24 points.

Liberty 3-1 Kotoko

The Reds suffered a 3-1 defeat to Liberty Professionals at the Carl Reindoff park in Dansoman despite taking an early in lead.

Ahmed Toure shot Kotoko into the lead in the 5th minute before the home side got the equalizer in the 21st minute from Latif Blessing’s goal.

And after going level at half time, Liberty Professionals made their dominance at their home grounds count as former Ghana U-20 star Kennedy Ashia (middle, below) gave them the lead in the 75th minute.

With coach David Duncan’s side fighting to get an equalizer and atleast a point in the game, Alfred Nelson increased the goal tally for Liberty three minutes into added time.

Asante Kotoko who were 7th on the league log before Sunday's Match day 19 game, are now 9th with Liberty Professionals moving to 4th with 30 points.

B. Chelsea 2-1 Aduana

Attacker Kofi Owusu claimed the maximum points for Berekum Chelsea in the regional derby as they fought from behind to beat Aduana Stars 2-1 at the Golden City Park in the Ghana Premier League.

The former Okwahu United talisman left it late in the 82nd minute to score the winner for Chelsea after the visitors’ early goal was cancelled out by Stephen Baffour.

Aduana ensured their persistent pressure on their host count as it fetched the opening goal  in the 13th minute through Francis Larbi.

But the Blues took advantage of a clear penalty award by referee Solomon Mortey to level the scoring through Stephen Asare Baffour before home fans in Berekum.

Aduana will have to perform scans on goalkeeper Stephen Adams who was forced off the pitch on the 27th minute after going down to a challenge and failing to recover to continue the game.

The Fire Club declared their intentions early into the game by piling pressure on their regional rivals. The Chelsea somehow managed to deal with their marauding pressure until the 13th minute.

Aduana full-back Seth Opare weighed in a cross from the right which Richard Arhin met with a first-time volley which ricocheted off the body of a defender. For a moment, the Chelsea defensive guard went to sleep and Larbi powered home from inside of the box.

The attacking midfielder ran straight to join Aduana bench to celebrate his goal. Chelsea tried to come into the game but Aduana’s capture of the midfield made the game difficult for them.

But Aduana could not prevent them from levelling as Seth Opare conceded a penalty after pulling down a surging Chelsea attacker.

Referee Mortey appointed to the spot and Baffour stepped up and hammered the ball past goalkeeper Razak Mumuni who had replaced the injured Stephen Adams.

AshGold 4-1 BA Utd

Ghana Premier League leaders AshantiGold kept their league title ambitions in the right lane with a heavy 4-1 drubbing of relegation-trapped Brong Ahafo United at the Len Stadium in Obuasi.

AshantiGold went into the game with revenge on their minds against the relegation-threatened side and their determination propelled them to a comfortable lead.

First, United goalkeeper Lawrence Osei was penalized for dragging down Bernard Morrison inside the box and Shaffiu Mumuni coolly converted on the 7th minute mark.

The Miners continued their assault on The Apostles as Bernard Morrison went on a count-attack in the 39th minute to score the second goal at the Len Clay Stadium with the few fans on attendance jubilating ecstatically in the stands.

AshantiGold allowed the second-half to travel for only 3 minutes before midfielder Francis Oduro grabbed the third goal for the host.

Sellom Djerado reduced the deficit for the Sunyani-based side.

But Tijani Joshua smashed the nail in United’s coffin to wrap up a massive win for the home side who further tightened their grip on the league leadership status.

Hearts 0-0 Allies

The Phobians were held to a pulsating goalless draw at home by Inter Allies on match day 19 of the ongoing First Capital Plus Bank Premier League on Sunday at the Accra sports stadium.

A battle of 10th place [Hearts of Oak] and 13th place [Inter Allies] saw a compact game as the Tema based side dominated the Phobians in the early stages of the game but it was the home side who created the decent chances in the game but inform Foovi Aguidi spurned the chances he had.

Inter Allies came close in getting the first goal but the miscued header from tall lanky striker, Sheriff Deo Mohammed failed to beat Soulama Abdoulaye in post for Hearts of Oak.

WAFA 4-1 Hasaacas

West African Football Academy subjected Sekondi Hasaacas to a huge demolish after hammering them 4-1 at the WAFA Park in Sogakope in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday. 

Skipper Martin Antwi netted a double to add to goals Zakari Mumuni and Richmond Lamptey.

Samuel Afful had scored a consolation for Hasaacas before he was marched off the pitch in the four minutes into the second-half after a second bookable offence. George Owu (pictured below) had been happy about his three clean sheets before the game. How time changes after 90 minutes.
