The league table of the First Capital Plus Premier League has become even more amazing after this matchday.

With 3 games to play, third placed Inter Allies can still be relegated from the FCPPL! How many leagues in the world can lay claim to such tightness up and down the log?

A few match facts from the day:

- 15 goals were recorded on a day.
- There were four home wins, three draws and 1 away win.
- Liberty were the only away winners.
- Kennedy Ashia's late winner was his 11th goal of the season
- The two goals scored by Liberty at Wa today were the first goals conceded by All Stars in Wa since March 22.

Hearts 1-0 Bechem

The Phobians continued to keep their survival hope alive as they beat another relegation threatened side, Bechem United at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Kenneth Okoro's wonderful header in the 25th minute was what the Phobians needed to win the game as they move out of the relegation zone.

The Phobians began the game on a high note pressing for the opener which in the 11th minute, Hearts of Oak attackers failed to connect home a goal mouth in Bechem United penalty box as Patrick Cole in the heart of the away side’s defense stood tall to clear his lines.

Hearts of Oak kept the pressure on the Bechem based club but they lacked the cutting edge upfront, notwithstanding the chances the Phobians wasted they never got deflated and kept the heat on the away side and in the 25 minute Kenneth Okoro headed home the first goal after he connected Eric Kumi’s lofty cross from the left side of Bechem’s defense.

The away side after conceding upped their game, they besieged the goal area of the Phobians but they fluffed the chances they created, shortly the Phobians seized control of the game and they also failed to double their lead.

From recess, Bechem United dominated play with a lot of swift wing play as they caught Hearts of Oak off guard on many occasions but they look jittery upfront and the closet they came was when Noah Martey tried his luck from a 35 yard but didn’t troubled Soulama Abdoulaye in post for the Phobians who made a return into Hearts of Oak goal after his four match suspension.

Both sides kept each other at bay but Bechem Utd look more dangerous whenever they had the ball but they had it difficult in breaking down Hearts of Oak defense. The away side did everything within power searching for the equalizer which they failed to do as the Phobians guided their lines very well to win the game 1-0 after 3 minutes of time added on.

The Phobians now sit at the 12th position with 35 points and their next league game is against Medeama at Tarkwa.

Inter Allies 0-0 Kotoko

Inter Allies settled for a goalless draw against Asante Kotoko at the Tema Sports Stadium.

The first half of the game was a ding dong affair, as possession was evenly shared by the two sides.

Asante Kotoko improved on their performance when the second half of the game commenced, but the midfield failed to connect perfectly with the attack. The Tema lads also came into the game and mounted incessant pressure on Kotoko, however, series of blocks from the defence men of the champions and near misses from the home team denied them the three maximum points.

Inter Allies per this result ended have ended the league leaders impressive run of three successive victories in the ongoing Ghana Premier league.

In the closing stage, Asante Kotoko created some decent opportunities, but the like of Kwadwo Poku and Obed Owus wasted them.
The Porcupine Warriors will welcome relegation bound B.A United on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on match day 28, while Inter Allies will travel to Dansoman Carl Reindorf park to face Liberty Professionals.

AshGold 2-1 Medeama

Ivorian forward, Didier Kore’s brace against Medeama has given AshantiGold a three-point lead atop the standings.

The Miners fought from a goal down to defeat edeama SC 2-1 in Obuasi on Sunday. Second round sensation, Kwesi Donsu put the visitors ahead on seven minutes

Kore levelled matters for the Miners before half time. Kore then scored a penalty in the second half to seal all three points to keep AshGold’s title charge on course.

There is all to play for with three games to end the season. While AshGold and Aduana Stars slot it out at the top for the title, the two after match day 27 look the only teams who have secured their premiership status for next seasons.

All other teams from third position to bottom place stand the risk of relegation. The FCPPL returns with match day 28 on Sunday, August 16.
