Both ends of the table are taking shape but not in a big way because the difference between top sides and bottom sides is wafer thin. Sometimes, it's even bizarre, such as a team in the bottom three just six points away from one in the top six.
AshGold have taken an almost unassailable lead at the top and only a massive collapse will see the league title elsewhere than Obuasi.
The bottom is nicely poised as six points separate Aduana in second position from fourteenth placed New Edubiase who currently occupy the last relegation berth.
AshGold v BA United
The last team B.A United, currently bottom of the league, want to play this weekend is AshGold, who are inching closer to a first title since 1995. A victory will maintain the Miners' seven point gap.
With their coach in no-nonsense mood following his verbal spat with sports journalists, Bashiru Hayford will be eager to let three points further quieten his critics. [Click here too see Hayford's threat to sports journos]
Liberty v Kotoko
Should Liberty beat the Fabulous army, it will be the first time they've managed home wins for two straight seasons, after winning 1-0 win last season at Dansoman.
For the defending, they'll be aiming to claim their second win in Accra in the space of four days following a gutsy 3-2 win against Olympics in midweek.
Reds boss David Duncan (above) will be seeking to duck increasing pressure to close the gap on AshGold after a hard fortnight for the Porcupine Warriors. He will rely, again, on team top scorer Ahmed Toure.
“We must win again on Sunday”, says the man with nine goals this term.
He scored a brace against Olympics. “Now we are at the seventh position and I believe another win on Sunday could take us into the top-4. Everybody will then know that Kotoko is back in business. We disappointed our home fans before coming to Accra so we want to go back with our heads high”.
Liberty will surely be tough as the Dansoman side have won their last three games - and are undefeated in six. The key man has been national youth team striker Kennedy Ashia, who's got eight goals this season and is Liberty's leading scorer in the league.
Bechem v Edubiase
New Edubiase will play as guests to Bechem United with both sides sitting uncomfortably in the relegation zone. Edubiase come off the back of an uninspiring draw at home to Liberty Professionals while the Bechem will buoyed after returning from the Lions den in Kpando unscathed.
And about the reports of being broke?
"We strongly refute reports that we're facing a financial meltdown. We're under no pressure with payments; player salaries are 100% paid," a tweet by Bechem United's official Twitter handle stated clearly.
Their football doesn't look as inspiring as the vehement tweet suggests.
Berekum Chelsea v Aduana
Aduana Stars' second position is under threat when ahead of this Sunyani derby at the Golden City Park. Chelsea have been impregnable at home winning seven out of the eight matches.
But their away form has been decidedly bad - they have not won away in 30 straight matches.
WAFA v Hasaacas
Hasaacas, ninth on the table, will be aiming to complete a double over WAFA (pictured in a huddle below) when the two sides square off at Sogakope. The new entrants have been the surprise campaigners so far as they currently sit fourth.
Medeama v Heart of Lions
Medeama will be hoping to get their first win in the second round in this fixture at the Essipong Stadium. Lions' away record has been abysmal recently, losing their last three away games and conceding nine in the process.
Nathaniel Asamoah is expected back from suspension to continue his quest to finish top of the league's scorers' charts. He's got 11 now, but is yet to score in the second round.
Wa All Stars v Olympics
Olympics are shorn of the much-touted experience of Dan Quaye and Godwin Attram due to illness and injury. And at 15th on the log, a few more poor games could herald serious problems.
"If anyone thinks we are going to be relegated then he should think again," club spokesman Saint Osei tells Joy Sports.
"You have to look at the league table to see how competitive things are. It's easy to brush us off but we'll definitely finish in the top half of the table," he goes on.
The long trip up north notwithstanding, Olympics will take lessons from fellow capital-based Hearts in midweek. If the bumpy pitch is anything to go by, Wa have the upper hand even before kickoff.
Hearts v Allies
That'll be at the national stadium. Hearts head coach Herbert Addo will desperately be searching for victory against former side Inter Allies. Pressure is Addo, who has been accused of making too many excuses in recent weeks, as the Phobians have been largely inconsistent in the league.
Hearts played in Wa in midweek, meaning they have a 700 km journey cross country before playing the Tema-based Allies on Sunday. After losing on Wednesday, Addo had blamed the pitch [click here for story], a week after calling his players immature and two weeks after labelling the entire club 'unprofessional'.
As for Allies coach Paa Kwasi Fabin, he must be wondering how his side are winless in six games. But he seems not too concerned.
“I would have been bothered if we had dropped our standards but the performance has been up there. And the target for the season remains to finish in the top four of the competition.”
Though 12th with 24 points, Allies know the distance to a top four plays is not too difficult, especially as third-placed Wa All Stars have 27 points.
