A tragic incident in Bawku in the Upper East region has claimed one life, while five others have sustained injuries during a sporadic shooting.
According to police sources, the incident unfolded around Zongo near the Bawku Police Station at 12:30 pm on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as 60-year-old Musah Seidu, who suffered a fatal chest injury from gunfire.
Those injured include Firdaus Abdulai (17), Sumaila Munira (38), Amidu Bugri (40), Bukari Seidu (50), and Kamal Sadat (19).
Firdaus and Munira are currently receiving medical attention at the Vineyard Hospital, while the remaining three are being treated at the Presbyterian Hospital.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Musah has been released to the family and laid to rest per Islamic traditions.
