The District Magistrate Court at Nsawam, presided over by Mr. Wilberforce Mensah has remanded Kwame Ahwireng, 57, a farmer at Fawohiako, near Nsawam for murdering Kwaku Obeng his younger brother.
Ahwireng, who pleaded not guilty would re-appear in court on September 26, 2008.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Alex Cosmos told the court that the accused and the deceased were all farmers at Fawohiakor and one day, the deceased’s flock of sheep entered the accused farm to graze and this brought misunderstanding between them.
The prosecutor said in 1996 the deceased warned the accused not to carry his single barrel gun to pass in front of his house but the accused became offended, loaded the gun and fired at the deceased in the right thigh in his kitchen.
Inspector Cosmos said the accused, not satisfied with the first shot chased the deceased, who had run into the bush to prepare some herbs to treat the wounds but the accused shot him again,
killing him instantly.
The deceased son, Emmanuel Kwabena Attah who found his father’s dead body in the bush reported the matter to the chief as well as the Nsawam Police.
