Fan Milk PLC, a subsidiary of Danone and Ghana’s leading dairy and beverage company, held a ceremony on November 1, 2024, in Accra to unveil and hand over seven out of 15 equipped shops to beneficiaries of its ‘Right to Dream’ initiative across the country.
Launched earlier this year, this initiative aims to create sustainable employment within FanMilk’s supply chain.
‘Right to Dream’ ensures that street vendors have a clear growth path when they join the business, demonstrating FanMilk’s commitment to the development of its people and communities.
Additionally, this campaign serves Danone’s purpose of ‘bringing health through food to as many as possible’.
“Our street vendors, also known as ‘Chief Enjoyment Officers,’ are the reason FanMilk is still in business. We are happy to be on this growth journey together and shape the future of our community. The seven shops unveiled today mark the beginning of a total of 15 shops earmarked to be handed over before the end of 2024,” the Managing Director, Lionel Parent of FanMilk Ghana said.
“By offering investment in the form of full setup costs, products, equipment, and selling assets, we empower these agents to become independent entrepreneurs who will, in turn, create jobs for other vendors,” he added.
Together with the latter, FanMilk is also providing upskilling in the form of ongoing coaching and business advisory support to the new agents.
This ensures they manage their earnings effectively, allowing them to run their businesses sustainably and support their families, creating a supportive ecosystem.
The Sales Director for FanMilk, Ayodeji Adewale, emphasised that the ‘Right to Dream’ initiative, a key part of FanMilk’s ‘Project Sankofa,’ is here to stay.
He highlighted that this initiative is crucial for reigniting excitement around FanMilk products built over the past 64 years and supports Danone’s sustainability agenda for thriving people and communities.
“To our new agents, remember that we are partners in growth. You are the reason FanMilk continues to be a strong brand and a thriving business, and we are committed to supporting you every step of the way. "We look forward to seeing your businesses thrive,” he said.
A beneficiary of the Right to Dream Initiative, Issaka Ibrahim, expressed his utmost appreciation to FanMilk for the opportunity.
He assured FanMilk’s management of his commitment to thriving in his new role as an official agent and supporting other new street vendors in their businesses.
