Prosecutors in the United States have confirmed that they are working on a formal extradition request to try the NPP's MP for Upper-Denkyira in the US for criminal offences.
Nana Amoakoh is wanted in the US for allegedly stealing over one million dollars from a Brooklyn-based limousine company, which he worked for in the US. He has denied the charges.
Spokesperson for the New York County District Attorney, Jennifer Kushner told Joy News an official extradition request would be sent to the government of Ghana to enable the MP face criminal charges in the US.
Madam Kushner said that details of the extradition are being worked out but would not be made public at this stage.
“Beyond what I have emailed you that we are going to file an extradition I don’t have any more information for you…it’s a pending case,” she said.
