Head of the Democracy and Good Governance Division at the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) has urged stakeholders to find a peaceful resolution to the matter.

According to Ebenezer Ofosu Asiedu, the rift between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the demand for an audit of Ghana's voters register can be addressed with the involvement of stakeholders.

In response to the Electoral Commission's (EC) refusal to allow a forensic audit of the voters register, the NDC organised a nationwide protest with a further promise to scale it up to the district EC offices if the elections governing body remains adamant.

Speaking on JoyFM Midday News, Mr Asiedu said, "We hope that these are some of the issues that are coming up, and we pray that the stakeholders involved would find a way to handle this amicably.”

Mr Asiedu emphasised the need for an opportunity to resolve the differences between the two major bodies regarding the electoral register.

"We believe that, at the end of the day, after today's demonstrations, there will be an opportunity to reconcile whatever differing positions these two major stakeholders have on the electoral register."
